Zack Snyder is one of the most controversial directors of all time, whose every new film comes with a new controversy. Zack Snyder is one of my favorite directors of all time and one of the very reasons I love him so much is the way he portrays the emotions of his characters through his stunning visuals…….. You mate hate him but you can’t deny the fact when it comes to making a film visually appealing he’s a genius in that

Zack Snyder's Films Ranked

So today on the occasion of his birthday here are my top ten ranking of his movies from best to worst, before you go any further I wanna make it clear it’s just my personal ranking based on how I think & feel about those movies, I do respect others opinions for those movies too

10. Rise of an empire

2014 ‧ Action/War

Director: Noam Murro

Cast: Eva Green, Sullivan Stapleton, Rodrigo Santoro, Lena Headey, David Wenham

IMDb Ratings: 6.2/10

Summary

This film is yet another example why you should be very careful when you are developing a sequel of a well established film. This movie had some really great moment’s it also had some of the greatest action sequences ever put in a historical film, felt like a game has come to life but at the same times it suffers from again weak writing, editing, screenplay, and cheesy dialogues.

9. Legends of the guardians

2010 ‧ Family/Adventure

Director: Zack snyder

Cast: Hugo Weaving, Sam Neill, Jim Sturgess, David Wenham, Adrienne DeFaria

IMDb Ratings: 6.9/10

Summary

A decent yet amazing animated film with phenomenal direction & background score that’s it that’s all i liked and that’s all i wanna say about this film

8. Army of the dead

2021 ‧ Horror/Action

Director: Zack Snyder

Cast: Dave Bautista, Matthias Schweighofer, Ella purnell, Huma Qureshi

IMDb Ratings: 5.7/10

Summary

A huge blockbuster popcorn entertainer with a little bit of too much I would say, the film’s great only when you watch it for the very first time but as soon as you watch it for the second time you will realize how many flaws it has starting with bland storyline & storytelling, screenplay which is slower than it’s supposed to weak written characters and not so good direction the cinematography is great though ig it’s the first time I’ve questioned Snyder’s direction now again I’m not saying he did a bad job no, he was good but he could have done a lot better.

7. Sucker Punch

2011 ‧ Action/Fantasy

Director: Zack Snyder

Cast: Emily Browning, Jena Malone, Abbie Comish, Vanessa hudgens, Jamie Chung

IMDb Ratings: 6.1/10

Summary

A film most of you won’t agree is good and i can understand too with it’s predictable and cliched storyline, decent written characters and a decent soundtrack but what I think is this film was exactly how it was supposed to be a popcorn action entertained whose only job is to entertain us and this film does that job with perfection, and you all have to agree too story doesn’t matter that much in a action movie if the action isn’t cheesy and this film’s action is phenomenal, the way it’s choreographed and executed is praiseworthy and it all feels believable too because of the world’s they are showing us and the power the characters possess. Sucker punch is among those underrated films which often get ignored because people often expect too much from them, like I said it’s exactly how it’s supposed to be so watch it exactly how’s it supposed to you won’t be disappointed.

6. Batman vs superman

2016 ‧ Action/Adventure

Director: Zack Snyder

Cast: Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot

IMDb Ratings: 6.5/10

Summary

Oh… K here we are my favorite DCEU movie of all time and yet again one of the most hated & controversial films of 2016 , but i love this movie with all my heart and will keep defending it till I die ; people usually keep bashing it for how it portrayed the world’s greatest detective on screen but if you ask me i didn’t had any problem with the Batman who kill, he was a guy who has been Batman since 20 years has lost his parents almost everyone he has ever loved or cared for and watched his son die in short he has failed more than any other live action Batman we have ever seen on screen, and not to forget he’s a human after all he did exactly what any other man or human being would have done, he too have feelings that’s the reason he started killing because he lost faith, he lost hope……. Talking about the film i loved how they developed the hate for Superman in Batman and the reason behind why he wanted to kill him his motives & decisions were justified and believable idc what other’s says or thinks. Don’t watch the theatrical version if you are planning to watch this film watch the uncut one the ultimate edition.

5. dawn of the dead

2004 ‧ Horror/Action

Director: Zack Snyder

Cast: Sarah Polley, Ving Rhames, Scott Reinger, Ken Foree

IMDb Ratings: 7.3/10

Summary

A movie which redefined the zombie genre from top to bottom. Ig it was among those very first zombie film’s which had great cinematography, great storytelling & phenomenal direction & a great soundtrack . I wanna say so much more about this film but it’s among those film’s which you should watch by not knowing literally anything about it just go blindfolded into it and experience this masterpiece how it’s supposed to.

4. Man of Steel

2013 ‧ Action/Sci-fi

Director: Zack Snyder

Cast: Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Russell Crowe

IMDb Ratings: 7.1/10

Summary

Again one of the greatest CBM of all time and again a controversial one . Ig Man of steel falls under the films that divided audiences category. You either love it will all your heart Or hate it till the end. Henry Cavil’s Superman is the most humane and down to earth Superman to ever put onscreen and ig that’s the reason a lot of people hated it but we aren’t here to talk about the controversies are we we are here for Man of steel. The film’s a freaking masterpiece right from the opening scene, the way Synder portrayed this character onscreen and the way Henry played it was a match made in heaven. It did had some flaws for ex the whole Louis lane angle and the love angle b/w him and Superman felt so rushed, writing for some of it’s characters could have been a bit better especially Superman himself yes his writing wasn’t that good but it’s still ignorable

3. Justice League

2021 ‧ Action/Adventure

Director: Zack Snyder

Cast: Henry Cavill, Jared Leto, Ezra Miller, Ray Porter, Doutzen Kroes

IMDb Ratings: 8.1/10

Summary

Haha here it comes one of the greatest CBM of all time ZSJL. The movie which we thought didn’t existed , the movie which lead to alot of riot, strikes & controversies and it was pretty obvious too Jl was was one of the most anticipated movies of year 2017 , reason – we were finally going to witness Jl on big screens for the very first time it was pretty obvious people would have been excited. All right i don’t wanna talk any further about the controversies or how shitty the 2017 jl was let’s jump straight into ZSJL. There aren’t many movies which keeps you hooked up till the end I mean there are but there are many few which does it while having a duration of 4hrs . ZSJL was a love letter to not only superhero fans but to all the CINEPHILLES in general, ya it was a CBM but unlike any other in some ways for example you already saw the half of the film already on big screen still it made you excited for it, it was a film which was releasing because of the demand of fans and etc etc etc. The best thing about ZSJL was it’s character arcs & the closure it gave to it’s characters for example this film made the people who hated Batfleck fall in love with him, it gave cyborg & flash who felt just like a sidekick until now a proper story & character arc it gave their existence a meaning if that makes any sense.

2. 300

2006 ‧ Action/War

Director: Zack Snyder

Cast: Gerard Butler, Lena Headey, Rodrigo Santoro, David Wenham, Michael Fassbender

IMDb Ratings: 7.7/10

Summary

It might be a bit controversial because 300 isn’t Snyder’s best and the other films on this list are a lot better than this but the reason I’ve given it a second spot in my list is because this film made me fall in love with war & historical movies, you guy’s may find it weird but before watching this movie I never really liked any war or historical film it was like this particular genre was never my cup of tea, but this movie changed my perspective towards it. The direction, cinematography, storytelling, world building, soundtrack etc was everything which I always wanted to see in a war film. I admit the movie isn’t the so called the director’s best Or a masterpiece but it’s still a pretty great movie and everyone should watch it at least once.

1. watchmen

2009 ‧ Action/Fantasy

Director: Zack Snyder

Cast: Malin Akerman, Jackie Haley, Patrick Wilson, Billy Crudup

IMDb Ratings: 7.7/10

Summary

Ig it was pretty obvious and the one’s who have been following the superhero genre already saw this coming. Ok I won’t be stretching it for too long we will just jump onto the reason why watchmen tops the list.  So the first and foremost reason for watchmen being on the top of the list is it’s originality, now alot of you guy’s may question what originality it’s just another superhero team movie , but here’s where you are wrong this isn’t your typical superhero team up film ,  where a bunch of superhero teams up to defeat a villain who just wants to destroy the world….. It’s more like a murder mystery crime drama with superheroes in it. Nowadays people praise the boys & invincible for their originality and uniqueness but they forget what the boys and invincible is doing rn Zack Snyder did it a decades ago with watchmen, what would have it been if superheroes were real. It talks in deep about the human conflict & how power can corrupt a human being, it doesn’t matter whether you are good or bad if shit’s supposed to happen to you it will.
